Yáo biàn yòu (窑变釉), or transmutation glaze, is a traditional Chinese ceramic technique where glaze colours transform unpredictably in the kiln, resulting in unique, variegated, and streaked patterns. This particular process of colour transformation is driven by complex reactions of mineral oxides (copper or iron) at high temperatures, creating "magical" natural textures.
