Ink-black bamboo leaves, Chinese calligraphy and a small red seal motif decorate this handmade, hand-painted porcelain gaiwan. A fine network of lines is especially visible in the pale green crackle glaze inside the cup. Warm amber edging traces the scalloped rim and saucer and picks out the flower-shaped knob on the lid.
The gaiwan includes one cup, a fitted lid and a matching saucer. Steep loose leaf tea directly in the cup, then tilt the lid slightly to hold back the leaves as you pour. Try it with oolong or pu-erh for short, successive gongfu infusions.
