_____
This antique Chinese bronze incense burner was made in the early 20th century in deliberate imitation of Ming Xuande-period style.
Later bronze censers were often created in homage to the prestige of Xuande wares, with craftsmen and collectors continuing to value their balanced form, restrained elegance, and historic associations long after the Ming period itself.
Its appeal lies not in being a Xuande-period piece, but in the way it consciously echoes that admired earlier tradition.
That gives the burner both decorative presence and a clear place within the longer history of Chinese archaistic bronze design.
